Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Leads mowing, hedge trimming and weed control crews on aged care, childcare and council sites.

About the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor runs the daily maintenance crews. Mowing and turf maintenance, hedge trimming, hand weeding and fertilisation programs all sit in this scope. The role sets the order of work on each round, then checks the finish before the crew leaves site. Sporting ovals, parks, streetscapes and aged care gardens each need a different approach, so the plan changes with the site.

Turf health drives most decisions. The supervisor watches growth, wear and weed pressure, then adjusts mowing heights and fertilisation timing. Large scale weed control on sporting fields is planned around use, so play is not disrupted. Chemical application follows label rates.

  • Sets mowing, edging and hedge trimming rounds for each site
  • Checks turf condition, weed pressure and garden bed presentation
  • Trains crews on safe chemical application and hand weeding

Childcare centres and aged care facilities need quiet, tidy work. The supervisor plans noisy tasks away from rest times and keeps paths clear. Green waste leaves site the same day. The result is grounds that stay safe and usable all year.
